Fall is here. Summer ended
with a long day of rain and fall began with a beautiful cold wind. It seems
quite fitting that the first day of fall was cold and cloudy, with the clouds
parting right at sunset to reveal the streams of orange light through a line of
trees. I have happily pulled out my sweaters and leggings. This is the weather
I was looking forward to experiencing.
There is something I would
like to note about the rain, however. On Tuesday, we were outside grilling
vegetables when Mrs. Copu asked me to water some of the dry spots around the
house. I thought about all the dying grass and dried plants and I prayed to the
One who sends rain to the righteous and the unrighteous. I asked him for rain,
knowing that He could give it, if He so desired.
In all honesty, having rain does not affect me too much,
as far as I know, but it’s amazing to see how God loves to give good gifts to
His children. He uses the small things, the unexpected blessings, to stop us in
our tracks and bring us to our knees in gratitude. Gratefulness is a lovely
gift that lifts the heart from fogs of normalcy. It is a gift to see all that
is given from the Hands of love and goodness.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. ~James 1:17
